When reading the words ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’, we are referring to the South West Landlords Association, also known as SWLA.

We are a not for profit organisation supporting landlords with advice, training and all letting related matters. Our aim is to educate landlords to recognise their responsibilities in order to provide good accommodation for their tenants.

Membership Terms and Conditions

Before signing up as a member of the SWLA, please read the following terms of the membership. When becoming a new member, or when renewing, you will be in agreement with the terms;

Upon payment of membership fees, you secure your annual membership.
You agree to comply with these Membership Terms and Conditions.
Your conduct within the Private Rented Sector will be fair and honest.
You are aware and agree that all advice, services and documentation provided by SWLA are given in good faith and SWLA cannot be held responsible for any consequential losses or ill effect following receipt of such advice, services and documentation.
Membership is available to all individuals and businesses with an interest in the UK Private Rented Sector.
Applicants are entitled to have themselves plus one additional person named on the SWLA membership. When signing up as a business, any member of staff can access SWLA advice, documents and training opportunities.
The minimum membership term is for one year.
We reserve the right to increase the price of membership on an annual basis, this will be agreed at committee level, discussed at the SWLA AGM, and fully communicated to all members prior to implementation.
Membership will automatically continue upon the expiry of each term of membership, unless cancelled. Renewal reminder notices will be sent to members. Renewal of membership is accepted upon payment of renewal fees
You can cancel your membership easily, please do so by using the SWLA contact details above. Alternatively, you can cancel in the ‘Manage Account’ tab of the website members area. Please cancel at least 14 days prior to your renewal, especially if you are set up for automatic payments.
As a member of the SWLA, you may use the SWLA logo on your paperwork.
When SWLA introduce you to businesses listed on the SWLA Trade Directory or SWLA Website, your contract is with you and them, the SWLA is not party to that contract.
We aim to provide an excellent and helpful service to our members. If we fail to meet your expectations, complaints can be made to the contact details above. Your complaint will be dealt with and if required, escalated to the Office Manager and the SWLA Chairperson.
We are extremely careful with your personal information and respect your privacy, Data Protection is covered in depth in our Privacy Policy.
To keep membership costs down, SWLA use email to communicate with members – including to serve official notices. If you would prefer to receive communication and notices by post, please advise us and we will do so.
Your rights, obligations and benefits will cease when your membership ends.

Membership Agreement and Contribution Terms

By submitting an application for membership of the Association, I agree to become a subscriber to the Memorandum of Association of South West Landlords Association Ltd and agree to contribute to The Assets of the Association in accordance with Clause 7 of the memorandum: Every member of the Association undertakes to contribute such amount as may be required (NOT EXCEEDING £1) to the Association’s assets if it should be wound up towards payment of the Association’s debts, liabilities, costs, charges and expenses of winding up while he or she is a member or within one year after he or she ceases to be a member, and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves.
